About the Church

WHAT IS THE CHURCH OF CHRIST?

The Bible defines the church as those who are saved (Acts 2:47). It is the group of people who belong to the Lord. The Apostle Paul tells us that the church is the body of Christ, and He is the head (Ephesians 1:22-23). This means that Christ has authority over the group of people who are saved. As His church, we conduct ourselves according what He has commanded us through His own words, and the teachings of His apostles, which Jesus Himself taught them (Matthew 28:19-20;  Galatians 1:11-12)

OUR PURPOSE:

The church that meets at Spruce Pine is a group of Christians in this local area who subject themselves to the authority of Jesus according to the Bible. We meet together as the early Christians did to worship the Lord (Acts 20:7), to learn from His Word, and to stir one another up to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24-25). We also cooperate together for the purpose of spreading the gospel both in our local community, and by supporting evangelists who preach abroad.

We would be happy to come to your home or a place comfortable to you and have a Bible study.

On Sunday morning at 10 A.M., and Wednesday night at 7 P.M., we have a period of Bible study with Bible classes for all ages.

On Sunday at 11:00 A.M. & 6:30 P.M., we have worship services that are dedicated to worshipping God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

We invite you at any opportunity you have to come to these events. If you should have any question about what we do, we would both encourage those questions and be eager to answer them from the Scriptures.

OUR CONCERN FOR YOU

We live in a world that is filled with hatred, violence, and other sinful behaviors. As such, you may be disillusioned and think that no one cares about you. Please know that as Christians, WE CARE ABOUT YOU:

We care about your soul – We love you and want you to go to Heaven. We want to help you in any way that we can so that you may reach that goal.

We care about your problems – We all have burdens in our lives, both in regard to sins we struggle with, and other problems we face such as sickness, death, and heartache. As Christians, we strive to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2)

WHAT JESUS TEACHES TO BE SAVED

Believe Jesus to be the Son of God (John 8:24)

Repent of your sins (Luke 13:3)

Confess Jesus as the Son of God (Matthew 10:33)
